Welcome to EYFS!
Our class teacher is Mrs Hutchinson and our teaching assistants are Mrs Baume, Mrs Rawstone and Miss Barr.
Our learning environment allows our pupils to start building their foundation for learning through a range of play based and focussed activities. Pupils are able to access areas of provision which are linked to the seven areas of learning:
- communication and language.
- personal, social and emotional development.
- physical development.
- understanding the world.
- expressive arts and design.
Children will take part in both phonics and maths sessions daily as well as having a daily circle and story time.
Reception will take part in a PE session every Wednesday and Friday.
Please make sure children have their PE kit in school every day and their items are named.
Earrings must be removed by parents or pupils on PE days.
Children in Reception also get a home reading book which they should read every day, when it is finished, please sign your child's reading record and we will change their book.
Reception will receive weekly homework on a Friday starting Spring term. Please return completed homework by Wednesday.
Learning in the outdoor environment is hugely beneficial to our pupils. Please bring suitable clothing for the weather.
Supporting your child with school readiness
Allowing time for them to get dressed and undressed independently.
Having a daily story time. This really helps children learn a range of vocabulary and imagination.
Practising finding and writing their name.
Looking for logos and familiar letter sounds in the environment.
Counting objects, steps or things you may find when you are out and about.
Playing a board game that involves turn taking and rolling a dice and counting the steps.
Our themes, areas of provision and our lessons are based on the interests of our pupils. Please let us know what you have been up to or something your child is passionate about. We would love to know.
If you have any questions about EYFS please come and see Mrs Hutchinson.
